fancy some surf skate training in woolacombe?

Actual, real, stand up on your board, surf time is limited when your on a wave. Everything happens super quick and the honest truth is if your thinking about what to do rather than reacting then it's probably too late. Which is why UniSURFity uses Smoothstar Surf skates to introduce the "feel" side of surfing time and time again. These boards provide excellent "real feel" feedback to how your surfboard will react under your feet. Key aspects which will be worked on are:

1. Stance - a correct, dynamic and efficient stance can be worked on. No more Euro squat

2. Rotation and compression - These are the key movements to every manoeuvre in surfing. Understanding how much and when to apply can be worked on over a realistic course set out by the coach.

3. Manoeuvre placement and plot points - By utilising a course set out to your level and stance (Regular or Goofy). We can work on the correct timing, where to look into and out of turns for successful and functional manoeuvres.

4. Arms - learn how important arm placement into and out of turns creates not only completion of a manoeuvre but also "Drive" aka speed.

5. Speed generation

6. Forehand and Backhand drills - learn the different feel and body positioning needed for both heel and toe side turns.

7. Advanced manoeuvres from basic turns through to cutbacks, fin releases, and even air reverses.

8. Linking of manoeuvres - learn how to flow from one turn to the next with function and speed.

9. Imagination - after the above then we can start working on a much more complex course where you learn how to read and react with pure instinctual movement through changeable and random instructions.

Many surf skates are pure gimmicks that are more like skating than actual surfing movement. You're welcome to bring your Carver, Surfskate, Yo skate etc. However, I'm confident that you'll want to carry out these sessions using the Smoothstar boards. There's a reason why Filipe Toledo, Joan Duru, Euroglass and UniSURFity use them.
